Sanjeev Malhotra, has to his credit over 25 years of exposure to international marketing trends. This was achieved initially through his experience obtained in a global trading company based in the UK, which operated and specialised in developing and emerging markets across the world. This gave him the opportunity to visit and gain insights in almost every corner of the world. His own personal interest in the power of communication and studying the 'behavior' of the 'people of the world' gave him a unique perspective on the role of communication and branding.

Realising the need for focused and specialist services beyond advertising, he returned to India to set-up and direct Aliagroup, a new age Design and Brand Building Firm. He has applied his expertise in the international arena, to the distinct needs of the emerging Indian market place. He has been able to address the needs of clients in this dynamically evolving sub continent, and provide Aliagroup clients with often simple but innovative and effective solutions.

He is an expert on marketing communication in developing markets and believes that design is underleveraged in India and that long term brand success is achieved by going way beyond awareness into experience and involvement opportunities. This clearly needs the brand net to be spread wider, and can be achieved only by adopting design and branding as an organization discipline–which also contributes immensely to internal marketing and motivation. He believes that Asia has huge under leveraged brand and design equity and that Asia can play a large role in offering intellectual services to global markets.

This belief and foresight has in a very short time positioned Aliagroup’s division DMA as India’s first and largest Design & Branding Services Firm. Aliagroup enjoys a global integrity and has partnered US based JDK to form the marketing services firm GEODSX LLC. It also has associates in the UK & Singapore.

The use of design as a recognized business need saw Aliagroup launch a specialist design firm YELLOW, which has concentrated on pure design and packaging.

He is personally involved in offering strategic brand communication advice at a global level to his clients. Aliagroup offers its services to over 20 brand owners that include: Unilever/HUL, Reliance, Pillsbury, Amul, ITC, Dabur, Sara Lee, ONGC, UB-Shaw Wallace, Pepsico, Futuregroup, Thapar Group, Marico, Diageo, Godrej, Coke & Air India.

At 50, Sanjeev is the only Asian on the Global Advisory Council of the Boston based DMI (The Design Management Institute ), he is an alumni of Harvard Business School and an internationally recognized authority on design, branding and marketing communication – particularly in the emerging and developing markets. He is an invited speaker and panelist at global forums and events. He is the vice chairman of the India chapter of the U.S. based POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International). He is also visiting principal faculty, at India’s premier National Institute of Design and The Mudra Institute for Communication (MICA) in Ahmedabad – India. He is a member of many industry and leadership networks including the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) and is passionate about furthering the role of Design and Branding in communication, particularly the use of design as a business tool. He is a marathon runner and lives with his daughter and wife in Mumbai.
